Insider's Guide to bridesmaid dresses

Choosing your bridesmaids may be easy and a no brainer for you; it’s probably your sister or some of your long time friends who you made a pack with a long time ago to be each other’s bridesmaids for each of your weddings. Bridesmaids play big parts in weddings. They are the ladies who accompany you before you walk down the aisle, help you with wedding preparations and share your excitement on your wedding day.

So what attire should you put them into on your wedding day? You would want them to look good but not overshadow your wedding dress.

Your entire look as an entourage should complement each other and achieve the theme you are aiming for in your wedding.
Like your wedding gown:
  • Decide on cut and style for each bridesmaid according to their body type. It’s becoming a trend that bridesmaids wear different cuts of dresses but make sure that the length is the same for everyone to tie things up together. The length is also dependent on how formal your wedding is or where the location is so make sure that everyone is comfortable so that they will enjoy the event.
  • Second, decide on the hue of the dresses. Decide on a hue that will look good on everyone. It is important that you consider their complexions. Like the cut of dresses, you can also choose different colors for each one or perhaps different hues of the same color. Things you might want to consider when choosing your color palette is the season, are you marrying during the summer time?
  • Bright summer colors will look alive and vibrant but there are also great Autumn colors to choose from should your wedding fall in this season. Another one to consider is the time of day your wedding is going to be held. Dinner weddings may call for darker colored attires.
  • Last but not the least, combine practicality with fashion. Consider a bridesmaid dress which your ladies can wear even after the wedding. Perhaps choose a style which can also be worn in a cocktail party or even on their future dates. Make it multi-functional. Also, consider your bridesmaids budget when choosing the dresses. Is AUD$500 per dress worth the purchase for the ladies? Make necessary adjustments when necessary.
